The proliferation of Android devices has opened a new world for game development, bringing with it both the touchscreen's “magical” sense of interaction, along with a raft of new challenges for designers. Throughout the history of video games, developers have had to adapt titles to mice, keyboards, joysticks, gamepads, and other types of input devices, sometimes with less than ideal results. Touchscreens add yet one more component to the mix, with the accompanying concern of associated costs for development and quality assurance, especially for existing titles.
